I have been so scatterbrained lately. Princess had a really rough couple of weeks at the beginning of last month. She's doing much better now, but I think the stress clogged up my brain.
I mentioned leaving the house only to realize I didn't have on shoes or have my purse with me.
There's been tons of little stuff like that. I've lost my keys a dozen times, have trouble thinking of names of TV shows or characters I absolutely know and even locked poor Willow cat on the patio overnight.
The haze really impacted my smoothie making skills last week.
I took some frozen pineapple out of the freezer and was put off by the color. They were way more orange than usual. I wondered if they'd been in there too long, but threw them in the blender anyway.
Princess came in and saw the bag of frozen fruit on the counter. She said, "Mommy, I don't want a smoothie."
This baffled and - I admit - annoyed me a bit. I wasn't making a smoothie for her. It was for me, I explained.
"Then why are you putting mango in it?" she asked.
I looked at the bag of frozen fruit. Yup, mango. Not pineapple.
I'm allergic to mango.
Ugh.
I fished the mango chunks out (I hadn't blended yet), threw in pineapple, put the lid on and turned it on high.
GRRRRRRRRRRR
There was the most awful "grrrr" sound. Hubster came running from the other side of the house. Princess screamed. I assumed there was a piece of frozen fruit stuck in the blades, so I took the blender off the base, shook it and then turned it back on.
GRRRRRRRRR
This time I took off the lid and stuck a spoon down in there to see what the problem was.
Here was the issue:
The spoon.
I left the spoon in the blender after fishing the mango out.
I was blending a metal spoon.
You can't really see it in the photo, but it wore the edges down. The handle is all jaggedy now.
And there were little specks of metal floating around in the blender.
I poured the smoothie down the drain and decided not to attempt it again.
Actually, I still haven't made a smoothie.
Did I mention this was a brand new blender?
I'm glad we all have a good sense of humor in our house and that I have no problem laughing at myself and having others join in!
Mine is pretty mushy too, a month till I get to see you though and then we can all let our brains be mushy together.
ReplyDeleteIf your allergies are bad right now and you are under a lot of stress, it can cause a condition called "brain fog". Taking an H1 and H2 blocker (H1 = Claratan, Zyrtec, etc. and H2 = Zantac) can clear up your head.
